In June 2009 my husband and I were living in Germany and we were getting ready to move to Tucson AZ. After looking on-line for home loans we found a company we were comfortable with. The loan officer referred us to John Mijac of Old Adobe Realty. John was very helpful to us, we immediately started to receive listings for property in the areas we were interested in. Once we found a house we liked John went to the residence and took additional pictures and measurements for us. We liked it from the pictures so we put a bid in for it. John e-mailed all the paperwork to us and we signed it and sent it right back. Unfortunately our bid was not accepted. In late June we planned a one day trip to Tucson so we could look at some other properties. John picked us up at the airport and we were off on an all day house hunting spree. John showed us every neighborhood and about six or seven different houses. We had to leave early in the evening that night but we did see a short sale house we liked so we wanted to put a bid on it. Again John e-mailed us the paperwork and we submitted that bid the very next day. Unfortunately this bid was countered with a 90 day waiting period just to consider the bid. We did not want to wait so John, now armed with a knowledge of what we were looking for kept looking for a house that would suit us. He sent hundreds of listings and went to measure and take additional pictures of houses we liked. After another bid fell through we finally decided to put in a bid on a house in Vale. The house was a short sale so the bank had to look at the offer before it was accepted. During this waiting period it was November and we arrived in Tucson. We went to see the house and I fell in love with the floor plan. While we waited to hear about our offer we were staying in a hotel room. John continued to send us listings and regular updates about the progress of our offer. During this time my husband continued to look at house listings. One morning he found the same exact floor plan in a house on a side of town I told John to stop looking in because it was too far. When we told him that afternoon we wanted to see it he made the arrangements and a couple of hours later he showed us the house. It was the exact floor plan as the other house and the interior had just been remodeled. The seller's realtor advised John that there was another buyer very interested in the house. Since this house was my hearts desire, John sprang into action and submitted all paperwork by the following day. After much paperwork, time and disappointment our bid was finally accepted. John knows all the best people to go through for quality inspections so our new house was thoroughly inspected and found to be structurally sound. There were a few problems with small things and John was able to convince the seller that it needed to be fixed before we went through with the deal. Since this was November and we did not want to spend another day much less Christmas day in a hotel room, John was relentless in striving to get the deal closed in time, he kept up with inspections, paperwork and deadlines. Although this experience was disappointing and frustrating at times I am very happy to say that we moved into our new house on December 4 2009. We even had family over for the holidays, of course John was invited too! |
John, First, I would like to whole-heartedly thank you for all your help. With your help, I have not only found my dream home, but embarked on an entirely new chapter (perhaps a new book!) in my life. Buying a first home is both an exhilarating and terrifying process. Working with you made my experience the best it could have possibly been. I was considering relocating from the Boston area to Tucson, but had never been to Tucson. You took the time on the phone with me initially, learning who I am and what my requirements were. You were patient, professional and an absolute joy to work with through the entire process - which allowed me to find not only a good home, but my dream live/work space. Through your tireless efforts (we looked at 18 to 20 properties in 5 days), the process of finding a home became a spiritual journey that has culminated in a home I could not be happier with, and a friendship I will always be grateful for. What more could anyone ask of their broker? Knowledgeable and patient, you somehow managed to infuse humor and fun in what could have been a very stressful journey, but instead was absolutely all I could have ever hoped it would be. I would - and will - recommend you to anyone considering real estate in Tucson - without hesitation or reservation. You have a real gift for being able to match people with homes, not just houses. |
To those searching in Tucson: When we decided we wanted to move across country from South Carolina to Tucson we did so acknowledging the probable arduous tasks ahead. There'd be combing through the thousands of properties, neighborhoods, zoning restrictions, etc. Not to mention how many times we would need to travel back and forth, the expenses involved, as well as the possible let-downs of contracts pending before we could get to a property we wanted. We were so wrong about all that. We were so fortunate to find Tucson's BEST realtor - John Mijac. His advanced knowledge of real estate related technology truly helped us tackle this new adventure easily with one trip and an internet connection from home. He was quick, consistent, persistent and did everything and more that we could have asked (and even what we didn't know to ask). After just a few weeks of looking through properties he filtered through an online instant access 'client portal', we had it narrowed down to just a few choices. He offered detailed feedback along the way to encourage the weeding process. I didn't realize his true 'gift' of understanding our needs until he took us to the property we now own. It was/is perfectly us and exactly what we wanted. The funny part is I tried to delete this property from our list and he knew better. He urged us to see it saying pictures didn't do it justice. He said it felt like us. He was right. John truly listened and read between the lines in our email correspondence. He got to know us and matched us with our new forever home. It probably goes without saying that we highly recommend John Mijac to anyone buying/selling real estate in Tucson. |

We engaged John Mijac to sell our home in early 2009. It was a miserable home sale market. We asked John to "interview" with us because we had heard that he understood and appreciated our neighborhood. We had previously listed with realtors we knew personally and were disappointed in the results. We made the decision to interview multiple realtors before re-listing. John was a standout during the interview process. He proved his mettle by selling our home. In addition, he provided value with services that were critical to us (sellers no longer living in Tucson). His approach is sincere and straight forward. He can support his opinion (selling price, special conditions, market positioning) with verifiable qualitative and quantitative data. He is an artist of persuasion with scientific precision. He counseled us through difficult negotiations with balanced reason; he provided professional advice that made the difference in closing our sale. Add to that he is a fascinating and fun human being! We highly recommend John and welcome anyone's inquiry about our experience. His skills that were clearly demonstrated in our sale will serve an extremely broad market of home buyers and sellers.

To Whom It May Concern: We worked with John Mijac when purchasing a vacation home in Tucson in the spring of 2009. He was recommended to us by a realtor in our home state, who was herself impressed with him when interviewing him on the telephone. John took time to talk with us in detail, to learn as much as he could about what type of property we were hoping to buy. He offered excellent information and suggestions, and worked with us long distance to find a home. We found John to be incredibly willing to answer our questions and to be our “eyes” in Tucson. He often went to great effort to visit a property and provide both verbal and photographic details, guiding and advising without pressure. We quickly came to trust his advice, and appreciate the effort he put into helping us find a house. Once we found a property (and he was as excited as we were to find “the perfect place”), he skillfully negotiated on our behalf and explained the buying process to us. He arranged to have excellent inspection companies assist us, and he was able to work with the seller’s broker when some issues arose that might have grown into a larger problem with another realtor. In summary, we have found John to be a knowledgeable, conscientious, incredibly hard-working, and enjoyable person with which to work. We feel very fortunate to have found him, and would recommend him (and already have) as a buyer broker. We would be happy to talk with others who may be considering working with John. Sincerely, Chris Gray Dan Andersen |

Our search to find a property in Arizona, while living in Virginia was not going to be easy, this we knew. The search started online, as the most efficient way to peruse listings remotely. The first "find" of property meeting our criteria was listed with John Mijac, and upon contacting him (since we did not have any realtor with whom to work already), he seemed nice enough. The next several months took us on trips to Arizona to look at properties, the first of those being when we initially met John in person--a pleasant surprise to say the least.
John did not try to push our search in any direction, but to the contrary asked those questions that would help him understand what we sought. He pursued the information we asked for, spending undoubtedly countless hours, and he offered advice that became invaluable along the way. He always made it clear that the final decision had to be ours, further strengthening our admiration of him. John has a genuine love for people which makes him better at this job than anyone we have previously met. He is a wealth of knowledge, not only concerning real estate, but also the items and issues that accompanied the pursuit of a "dream" in unfamiliar surroundings 2,500 miles from our current residence. From our perspective, he handled every aspect of this transaction professionally and maintained honest, open communication with all parties involved. We found a wonderful realtor, an expert advisor, and a trusted friend in John Mijac.

John Mijac is a dedicated, thoroughly experienced, and committed professional. He is an astute agent that guides his clients with assurance and expertise, primarily with a focus of concern for his client’s personal needs. John spent many hours with me looking at listed homes, and then many hours again making bid proposals, arranging inspections, meetings with lenders, and always with a kind desire to educate and prepare me for every step of buying my home. I would recommend John Mijac without hesitation to anyone regardless of whether they are experienced or novice home buyers.

What can we say about John? Well not enough. He is smart, patient, persistent and very knowledgeable.
After weeks of looking at least a dozen houses he helped us find and secure the house we wanted. Even after a few set backs and bump in the road he never stopped pushing for us and he never let us loose our faith that everything would be alright.
With his knowledge, experience and advice he helped us decide which home was not for us. If he had not suggested on us using an independent home inspector we probably would have brought a house that was a total MONEY PIT. The money and headaches he saved us from is priceless. Thank you John!
His Patience is endless and the smile on his face is always there. Believe us it helps. Even when we were all over the place and changing our minds every five minutes he never lost his patience or tried to guest our reasons for doing so. He just went with it. The questions we asked and re-asked he answered straight forward. If he didn’t know something he found out and let us know in a timely and professional manner.
We can say that after the kindness and respect that was given to us we will definitely recommend him to anyone who inquires of us. So if you are looking for a realtor Johns the man. If you have questions ask them. He will answer them. And if needed ask them again, he will not mind. If he gives you advice, take it. He only has your best interest in mind. The kindness, respect and warm smile are free. That’s just the way he is.
Thank you John for everything
Sincerely,

Recently, my family has relocated to the Tucson area and John Mijac has made the transition especially easy. This one of many houses I have purchased and out of all of the real estate representatives he has stood out as by far the best agent. We looked at many houses over a lengthy period of time until we were able to narrow down to a house that suited our needs/desires at the right price. During this process my wife and I had different perspectives on what we wanted in a home and John was extremely patient. When it came time for closing we wanted to close in a very short period of time. John was able to make that possible by guiding us through the process efficiently and effectively. When the dust settled he was able to negotiate a fantastic price, loads of options and a contract that protected our interests. John has also been able to put us in contact with the right people to get the job done. It has been a pleasure doing business with him. Kevin Heller |

John ---- I could fill pages and pages on John Mijac and why we think he is a wonderful Realtor. All of the statements I make about John are true and honest, just like John.
My husband and I know about real estate sales people. We should because we have moved all around the country and purchased and sold ten homes in some varied locations. We always interviewed three real estate firms and picked the one that gave us what we considered the most honest appraisal and someone that listened to us and seemed to understand our needs and wishes.
I can say unequivocally that we think John Mijac was the best real estate person we have ever dealt with. His honesty and integrity are things that are often missing in that profession.
He worked extremely hard and he was able to sell our home in the time he said he would at a fair price to everyone, seller and buyer. This is remarkable because it was in a very down time in the real estate market.
You are going to say that we have written this as a friend of the family. Not true, but after this experience we think of John Mijac as a very good friend.

I am delighted to recommend John Mijac to anyone looking either to buy or sell property in Tucson, as he is by far the best REALTOR® I have worked with. Many years ago I had occasion to buy and sell a number of properties here, and my experience with Realtors was, without exception, dreadful. If I was selling, my Realtor appeared to represent the buyer; if I was buying, the opposite was true. The last home I sold during this time went in less than an hour, a backup offer right behind it; my Realtor had deliberately underpriced it to make a quick sale.
Because John and I are old friends, I wanted to help him launch his career in real estate. Even though he was new at the job, I trusted him to list my house and find another. My needs were specific: a main house with a guest house, a walled complex in a central location, interesting architecture (among many others). It took John all of three weeks to survey the homes available in my price range and preferred location, preview them, and find a house I was unable to resist. Through a peculiar set of circumstances, he ended up listing the house I was buying, thus representing both buyer and seller. Because he is so balanced, fair, and knowledgeable, he was able to do so to the absolute satisfaction of all of us. Even knowing him as well as I did, I was amazed by his expertise.
Looking for or selling a home can be a nightmare. While no move is easy, John helped me accomplish everything I needed to do. He referred me to people who helped with projects, he patiently demystified all of the paperwork, and everything went smoothly. My old house, under his excellent direction, sold in only nine days. John's absolute integrity, his excellent understanding of ethical and legal procedures, his calm, pleasant manner with people, and his sense of humor make him a joy to work with. I can recommend him absolutely without qualification.

When my father decided to move from the Midwest to Tucson, we were concerned that it would be difficult, at best, to make all the necessary arrangements long distance. From the very beginning, John guided us through the whole process. From finding the right home, to assisting with the logistics; John was one of the best REALTORS® to work with. He was articulate and knowledgeable about every detail that was encountered. With his knowledge of the computer, we were able to receive all the important documents in a timely manner. Within two weeks we had closed the sale and our father is happily settling in to his new home, thanks to all of John’s hard work.
I would recommend John to anyone who wants to work with a genuine, motivated and highly skilled REALTOR®
.
Sincerely, Teri P.

What a pleasure it is to work with John Mijac. When working through the tedious process of buying or selling a house, his patient, calm, and encouraging approach is reassuring and comfortable.
Our primary home is in Minnesota and we were looking
for a second home in the Tucson area. My wife and I presented John with a very "picky" list of what we needed in the house. His knowledge of housing in the area, commitment to visit each of the many "candidate" houses, and his excellent communication skills resulted in finding a house that we love. This is particularly noteworthy as many of our dealings with John were from afar. Also
, my wife did not see the house until after closing.
Prior to working with John, we thought real estate transactions had to be painful by nature. John has changed this perception as our home buying experience could not have been better.

John Mijac was and is a real estate angel. He was able to meld together the divergent ideas of what my husband and
I wanted in a new home, being patient and good humored beyond the call of duty as we looked at least 60 homes
over several months before making a decision. He helped us every step of the way, from the initial discussions of what
we were looking for through the inspection process and closing, then afterwards with some issues related to our property. We were never just a means to a commission for him, and were consistently treated with consummate professionalism and courtesy.
I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone who is thinking about buying or selling real estate in the
Tucson
area.

When my wife Rita and I decided to look for a house, I had spoken to John Mijac about being our agent. He was new to the industry at the time, but my business associations with him on separate occasions had secured a level of confidence that he would find us what we were looking for.
At the time, I was dealing with a lawsuit over 20 acres of land I had purchased two years prior in Pinal County. There was a question of Adverse Possession, and it was most likely going to destroy my investment. John advised me on what I should do to protect my investment while also purchasing a house. I decided to sell the land to the man who was suing me, and get out of the lawsuit.
In the mean time, John was showing my wife houses in the Northwest side of Tucson that would fit into our price range, providing the land deal finished in a timely matter. I met with the two of them after work one night and we looked at four houses that fit our needs. After some consideration, we chose a 3 bedroom in a community off of River Road. John set to work on the bidding battle and kept us thoroughly informed throughout the whole process.
Our bid was finally accepted, and John expedited the buying/inspection process. Timing for the closing was crucial. The land sale had to close prior to the purchase of the house since we were using that money to pay the down payment. All seemed to go smoothly until the point when the buyer of the land didn't realize this and decided to put off the closing of the land.
John jumped in and made it all happen. Acting on behalf of my interests, he represented me through the land sale free of charge. He even drove 1.5 hours to Casa Grande to make sure the paperwork was finished to ensure the deal!
I know John Mijac to be an exemplary agent, and applaud the quality of customer service he provides.
